Arcane Goods: Campaign Notebook Review

Test Reads Arcane Goods Campaign Notebook Review

In our TTRPG group, I am known as the Note Taker. Kind of like the Undertaker but way more organized and own at least 2 full sets of colored highlighters. Throughout my blogs, you have seen me share about what it is like to navigate learning disabilities while loving TTRPGs. Truthfully, it’s not always easy but staying organized is how I manage my ADHD. Some of my notebooks look like Charlie Day seeking out Pepe Sylvia and other campaigns have full on binders containing years worth of lore. Earlier this year, when Variant Rory started his campaign, I knew I wanted to try something different for Brandy, my Human Fighter. With the histRORYian behind the DMs screen, I knew I was going to need to keep track of more than one political thread.

RNW Alternate Campaign Notebook Cover

Fortunately, I was able to find possibly the most well put together campaign notebook out there for me to keep track of everything! Originally available through Kickstarter, is now on the Arcane Goods website and I am so happy to share it with you!

Clan/Faction Information Page

Sections include: Character, Backup Character, Reference Sheets, Campaign Timeline and Notes, Locations, NPCs, Organizations/Factions and some grid pages. One of the most fantastic features is a small footnote where you can lead yourself to additional sections. For example, if you encounter Faction A, at Location 2, with Important NPC aa, you can link all of the pages together. Previously, this took the form or multiple multi colored post-its throughout my notes. Needless to say, I am thrilled to have this book. Absolutely 5 star review and at about $20, I don’t think it can be beat!

Session Notes Page
That said, this might not be the right tool for every campaign. For example, mini campaigns, one shots, less political campaigns probably don’t require such detailed notes. There are two models available, one for players and one for the DM. Both include a dry erase sheet to help keep track of combat. I recommend everyone to check them out to see if this is the tool for you!
